Glassy eyes, staring at nothing. She closes them gently, cradling the small, soft thing in her palms. It’s warm to the touch, but cooling quickly.
The feathers are soft, tickling her nose when she lifts it to her mouth. They scratch her throat when she swallows them, along with the stream of sweet red.toga himiko character study that quickly spirals into incoherence.

Death is an option, of course.

He's thought about methods. There are plenty of tall buildings in the area, and he has his razor. He could slit his wrists, but that one has a low success rate. He's better off throwing himself off of a roof. He has more reasons to hate himself than not, hurt more people than he's saved. He's painfully jealous of those who deserve to be alive, people who everyone would unanimously agree to their value.
By numbers alone, Endeavor deserves life more than he does.

Dess doesn't remember much of the fight itself, admittedly. She'd been crossfading since mid-afternoon in preparation for the party, and drinking straight liquor since Dad brought out the hors d’oeuvres. It filters through the haze in pieces.
Isn't it enough that she came back? Why can't that be enough for them? They keep looking at her like they're expecting to see someone that died six years ago. Dess doesn't know how to break it to them that they're never getting her back.

Mom says, Asriel will be coming home for break. He will be so happy to see you. Kris wonders if he will even know the difference, if he’ll see what their mother can’t. They’ve always been a weird kid— people have told them that their whole life, but someone should have noticed.
