The two of them pull away from each other again and his mum smiles proudly, patting his cheek gently. “I’ll leave you to it then,” she assures him, kissing him quickly on the cheek and beginning to walk to the stairs.
“I love you!” Aeon calls out again as she begins to descend. She blows him an exaggerated kiss in return and then, all of a sudden, he’s alone. Despite his nerves, he knows there’s no time like the present to get the scary thing over and done with so, taking a deep breath to try and calm himself down, he wipes his tears away with his sleeve, slots his key into the lock and pushes open the door.

I know what you always do when you get like this.” Dewdrop’s breath hitches in his throat, and when he tries to draw breath in again, he can’t. He can’t breathe. Mountain knows. He’s known the whole time. Mountain knows and he’s never done anything about it. The one pillar of support Dewdrop thought he’d always be able to rely on to keep him safe knows, and he hasn’t cared enough to check in properly. Never once cared enough to try and save him.

She worked under Dr. Lamai on the coma bed technology, was tall and imposing with long brown hair and a symmetrical face that others categorized as “pretty”—which Grace only knew because he'd overheard some lab techs comment on it one day. He never had the eye for that kind of thing.

It stings, and there’s pressure like nothing else, pushing somewhere deep. Expanding until all there is is Aether; all the crackling ozone and heady musk draping itself around her and targeting precisely into that primal need to submit, to lie there and take.
But it’s good. It’s a pretty little switch in her brain that the big boys love to flip for her, and if she gets to cum hard and forget her name for a while, then being yanked from her slumber so Aether can have his way with her is worth it.

Mountain can’t help the way his lip wobbles at that, and all at once the damn is ready to break. He sobs through a poorly-masked cough, smiling bitterly as he turns his head towards Dew. The earth ghoul reaches for one of Dew’s hands and holds it tightly until the tips of his own fingers blanch.
It wasn’t ever supposed to be like this, Mountain thinks. So much change in so little time. And just when he was getting used to it all, Perpetua appeared as some literal long-lost twin with an irreversible fate and a vision that wouldn’t budge. He’s still not used to it. He does everything he can to mask it for the new Papa, comply with his directions and play along—literally and figuratively. But deep down, he still wishes it were still Copia leading them each night.
