Gdy promienie słońca zakrył cień, a Ness podniósł lekko głowę w górę, by zobaczyć kto blokuje mu ciepłe promyki — jego ostatnią nadzieję, zobaczył sylwetkę, zobaczył ten sam prześwit słońca w bujnych, jasnych włosach stojącego nad nim chłopaka. A za nim błękitne niebo, wyglądające na nieskończone, jak gdyby chłopak przed nim był słońcem — centrum całego nieba, a władza jego dorównywała Bogu. Jego oczy, wywołujące ten sam strach i podziw, co anielskie, ironicznie w kolorze Bożego królestwa. Wpatrywały się w niego, leżącego na boisku, zapłakanego... wyglądającego tak żałośnie, tak marnie, jak gdyby przyszedł go wybawić. Aż nie odrzekł:
"Czy wierzysz w rzeczy niemożliwe?"
