Summary
The difference between Aphmau and Irene are simple, not that Laurance would ever say it unless he was asked specifically. Maybe not simple, but obvious.
He respects Irene the way you'd respect a god: at a distance and through worship. Maybe out of fear that she won't perform the miracle you've traveled so far for. With admiration, but never longing, or a desire to really know her (unless you're Emmalyn). He knows all she's done, and he's grateful, but he never bothered to learn much about Irene.
He loves Aphmau the way you'd love your partner: with your soul and beyond. He would give his heart out of his chest if it's what she asked for, cross regions just to possibly see her smile. He would give anything to know why she decided to have so many pets, to know her favorite time of day and why, and to be there to support her however he can. Even if it means pointing out the most obvious of things to him.
