It didn’t make any sense to Rin. Patients would go so far as to request him if they were regulars. It wasn’t like the guy was cheerful or anything. But nothing rattled him. He kept that annoyingly cool attitude through cardiac arrests to massive force traumas and everything in between.
It’s like he has a gift for making patients stabilize just by being in the fucking room with them.
…and maybe Rin saw a little of himself in Haru too.

“Haru…” Rin starts. And then he says it again, “Haru, Haru.” And then he’s imagining saying it on an international stage, reading it aloud from lit up letters and newspaper headlines, letting it float from his mouth with the clink of champagne flutes – light as all those bubbles, warm as the pride he will see in Makoto’s eyes. He imagines the syllables of Nanase Haruka leading or following that of Matsuoka Rin. And everything is as it should be.
