Bucky doesn’t like John Walker.
Let’s get that out of the way. He doesn’t like the way he talks, the way he breathes superiority like it’s earned, or how he carries that mangled shield like it’s anything but a fake.
He hates how John makes it all look like a game—like this life, this country, these sins don’t weigh on him every time he looks in the mirror.
But Bucky's no stranger to hypocrisy. Because he shows up at John’s shitty apartment anyway, hood up, knuckles bruised, pretending the night’s cold even though he doesn’t feel it anymore.
John answers the door in a t-shirt that clings too tightly to his chest and eyes that flicker between confusion and something else—something too close to hope.
“You're cold,” he states, not unkind.
Bucky doesn’t answer.
He just steps inside.

Summary
It was one mistake. Unfortunately, Bucky’s father doesn’t see it that way, and only barely stops him from going to jail. To make up for it though, Bucky has to perform community service at an alpha ward, where the rare alphas of society are housed away from the populace.
There he meets one rough-looking alpha, mysterious and wild. A feral alpha, locked up away from the rest. Something about him draws Bucky in.

Legally speaking, he wasn't trespassing. His name was on the lease. The rent was paid automatically from his checking account each month. He'd once held the original keys, and he’d placed them in Vash's palm without hesitation. There was only the thorny issue that Vash had never given him a key back, never intended to, and had, without ever saying so explicitly, forbidden him from visiting. In the two years and counting Vash had lived here, Nai hadn't set foot past the threshold once he'd helped him move in. And he'd never asked to. Easier to live with the denial, when he could pretend Vash wouldn't say no.
Nai's brother has always set firm boundaries for them both, even when they aren't in his best interest. Can you blame a man for working around them?
