Summary
Crowley opened his eyes unwillingly. He theorized, or perhaps only hoped, that he was finally dead. Actually, properly dead. But no such luck. There was no Hell. There was no Earth. There was only Heaven. And Heaven is the worst possible place for a demon to be. He didn’t bother to wonder where he was going. He had no curiosity any more.
The world hadn’t ended with either a bang or a whimper, as it turned out. It was more of a whoosh. Like a great pile of tinder going up in a fire. Holy fire, but it burns the same.
--After the Second Coming, there is a new order in Heaven. Crowley is found, punished, and assigned to an angel for permanent imprisonment. He thought he wouldn't feel anything ever again, but then he meets the angel assigned to him.

Summary
The Doctor has been captured by the Corporation, whose goals of conquering and power are achieved through kidnapping and brainwashing. Through this process, those that survive become the Dedicated, with only one purpose: to serve the Corporation and further their hold through any means possible.
The Doctor as he was did not make it.
What remains of the Time Lord's mind is given the assignment Golden and sent off across the universe to kill those who stand in the Corporation's way, and recapture escapees from experimentation.
It just so happens that Experiment B-9X, also known as Captain Jack Harkness is roaming free, and Golden is sent after him.
