Summary
Mark hums a laugh and tilts his head until his cheek rests against Helena's hair. “Bet you’ll never make it,” he whispers.
She gives him a halfhearted slap on the chest. “Bet you won’t.”
“How much do you wanna bet?”
She pushes herself up to study his face. Her eyebrow arches. “That you can’t make it two weeks without f*cking me?”

Both reintegrated Mark Scout and reintegrating Helena Eagan are tapped to participate in Lumon’s new outreach tour to promote reintegration. Easy...except they’ve decided to keep their relationship out of the public eye, especially given Mark and Gemma Scout’s past as media darlings, and Helena’s decidedly less positive reputation. When they come up with the idea of turning the arrangement into a flirty game, they find themselves continually negotiating the rulebook.

Summary
The girls’ eyes all grew wide. “Professional soccer player Helena Eagan?” one of them asked.
“Former professional, but yes. That’s the one.”
“And she’s gonna be coaching us?”
Mark could feel the energy of the group changing. The girls stared at him, wide-eyed with excitement. Mark hadn’t seen this kind of enthusiasm in the team since before Gemma left. They began shifting slightly, and a buzz of whispers started among them.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Mark said, trying to regain control. “We’re already late to start practice.”
--
When newly appointed soccer coach Mark Scout finds himself in over his head, Myrtle Eagan’s School for Girls calls upon former professional soccer player Helena Eagan to help him whip the team into shape.

Summary
As soon as Helena pushes the door closed behind them, she’s hit by the gentle weight of Mark's body as he presses her into the adjacent wall, a gasp suspended in the back of her throat as his lips cover hers. She responds without really meaning to, just muscle memory, her head leaning back into his cupped hand as he protects her from knocking against the hard surface. The act of it is so tender that she can’t take it anymore, can’t take this—something she didn’t earn and doesn’t deserve.
She wedges her hand between them, palm to his chest, and pushes back. The look of hurt that flashes in his eyes is almost enough to pull him back to her.
“I’m—I’m sorry, Helly. Before the OTC… I should’ve kissed you back then; I wanted to. I—I thought—”
“I’m Helena Eagan,” she says, the confession tumbling out as an exhale.

Summary
Carol wakes hungry.
For days, for weeks, there’s been a hollow and persistent ache in the pit of her stomach. An emptiness that begs to be filled.
The other side of the bed is empty, covers pulled up and smoothed carefully. A dip in the pillow where someone’s head had lain. If she placed her own head in that spot, would she be any closer to whole?
She thinks of Zosia. She thinks of Helen.
Her stomach growls.

During the period of domesticity in S1E8, Carol is hungry for what she can't have.

Summary
The Mark and Helena lookalikes at the door smile pleasantly, and for a moment, the four of them just stare at each other. It’s bizarre, like looking in some kind of mirror, but also not. Then, lookalike Mark shakes his head like he’s just remembered he’s supposed to say something.
“Oh, hello there,” he says pleasantly. His voice is a little higher-pitched than Mark’s own. “We heard you two have a few questions that we might be able to help with.”
The Helena lookalike gives them a quick once-over and then smirks. “You might want to get dressed for this.”

After the events of Chapter 12 of I'll Meet You There, Mark and Helena are visited by their alternate selves from Outside With You and are offered some...very specific advice.

Summary
“I was made of snow,” the woman says, lowering her voice like she’s delivering a lecture. "And now I’m not. Can you believe it?”
Mark Scout clears his throat and looks around again. His hand slips into his pocket. “No, actually. I, uh, can’t believe that.”

Summary
Just when it looks like the multicolored people might be able to hold their own, the man in the gold armor suddenly grows giant in size. He strolls carelessly through rows of buildings in the city, taking off the tops of skyscrapers with his pointed weapon. Mark shudders as he watches.
“Is that—is that our city?” Irving asks.
Dylan has turned fully in his seat now. His eyes are wide and frightened. “I think I, uh, I gotta get home,” he says.
“Absolutely not,” Helly says firmly. “We can’t just leave.” She sweeps her arm toward the television screen. “Look what’s happening out there!”

Summary
“What is this?” Mark asks, reaching forward to take the sheet from Dylan’s hand.
“That’s what we’re asking you,” Dylan responds.
Irving clears his throat. “It’s clearly a list of tasks to accomplish today, given that we’ve finished this quarter’s refining assignments.”
“But none of these things make sense,” Helly cuts in. She steps closer to Mark and jabs her finger at the paper. “Like, what the hell is ‘pet play’? ‘Creampie’?”

Summary
Gemma isn’t the same.
Which, Devon guesses, is to be expected. She’s been held captive in Lumon’s creepy ass basement for two years, after all. She needs a metric ton of therapy—and to sue the shit out of Lumon (at minimum). But the difference isn’t just that.
--
Post-Cold Harbor, Devon takes Gemma back to her home and finds out that they're not exactly alone.

Summary
A shadow falls over the shaft of sunlight from the front door, a subtle announcement of another patron. Mark holds his breath. He doesn’t know how long he’s been here or how many drinks he’s had. He’s not even sure how many days he’s found himself in this exact spot. He’s just been waiting for her to show up, though he wouldn’t admit it to her—wouldn’t admit it to himself, either, except lately he can’t always stop the thoughts that bounce around in his mind. She found him before, and somehow, though it’s been months, he knows that she will again, one of these days.
Turns out, today’s the day.

Months after the events of Cold Harbor, Mark Scout and Helena Eagan meet in a dingy bar near the now-defunct Lumon campus.

Summary
The camcorder sits open on the car’s dash with his innie’s face frozen on the foldout screen. There’d been no reason for Mark Scout to watch the recording again; he has it almost memorized by this point, at least the part that matters. His innie’s words still ring in his ears, said flippantly and jovially and with no idea how they’d affect him. Strange, too, since they’re the same person.
“You know, I’ve been thinking—I’ve met Helena a few times now. Maybe you should meet Helly?”
He’d heard nothing from Helly since they’d started this arrangement, and he’d begun to give up hope he ever would. Why would he anyway? She doesn’t know him. But still, every time his innie sends him a message, he studies the corners of each frame for a glimpse of her, turns the volume up in the hopes he’ll hear the whisper of her voice.

A year and a half post-Cold Harbor, Mark Scout and Helena Eagan drive to Damon Birthing Retreat each weekend so that their innies can spend time together. When Mark's innie gets the bright idea for Mark Scout and Helly R. to meet, things start to unravel.

Summary
This is a love story. It’s not a tragedy. Well, actually…okay, it’s a little bit of a tragedy, too. But tragedies end in death, and though there’s death in this story, it doesn’t end there. Maybe it’s a comedy, but though there are marriages in this story as well, it also doesn’t end there either.
Devon Scout doesn’t see "Gemma Cute TA" for eleven whole years. They spent seven months together, then eleven entire years apart. Then her brother finally gives in and agrees to invite his new girlfriend over to Devon’s for dinner and Gemma Cute TA shows up on her fucking front porch holding her brother’s hand.
Which leads us back to the earlier point: that this is a horror story, probably. And this is just the beginning.

Or, Devon and Gemma are exes, and this is that story. And what comes after.

Summary
Mark knows he has to tell Helly about what happened on the retreat. If he doesn’t, Milchick will or even Dylan might—there’s no doubt he’d heard them in the night—and he knows that the only way he has any chance of repairing the broken trust between them is to tell her himself.
When he looks back at the mirror, he sees several of his own face staring back at him, like a reflection of a reflection of a reflection. He flinches and staggers backward; the movement shatters the illusion, and in an instant, he’s back to looking at the single image of himself, looking confused and bewildered into the mirror’s surface.
It’s not the first time he’s seen something that’s not there.

Summary
By choosing to live, Mark’s doomed himself to life in hell. He’d told her one time that Lumon was smarter than they were; he was right.
And because of that, Helly knows she’ll lose him no matter what.

Summary
Mark Scout wakes up alone in the stairwell. The panic is immediate: all the breath pressed from his lungs, his heart knocking wildly in his chest, something like electricity slithering under his skin. When last he’d been conscious, he had Gemma in his arms, her face pressed to his. Her voice still lingers in his mind: I’m sorry, she keeps repeating, again and again.
And now she’s gone.

Summary
A year after the fall of Lumon, Mark Scout and Helena Eagan, now a couple, decide to reintegrate.
Part 1, Helly POV: When she wakes up with the other Mark, he always seems startled, like he doesn’t quite know what to do with her. He doesn’t say hello, just starts telling her where she is, what she’s doing. He’s distant, but he’s also…sweet. He often asks her how she’s feeling, asks her if she’s hot or cold or hungry or thirsty.
He always looks at her out of the corner of his eye. But he’s always looking, always watching, like if he looks away, she’ll be gone.
--
Part 2, Helena POV: He doesn’t want her; he wants Helly. And she doesn’t want him; she wants Mark S., the one who looked at her like he loved her. But only, she knows, because he loved Helly. Still, she remembers how it felt, being her, being someone who hadn’t been born into her family’s legacy, who could laugh at their stupid origin stories and make uncouth jokes and be loved by people who didn’t fear her.
She knows that both Marks belong to Helly, and she starts to think that maybe she does, too.

Summary
For Helly, there’s no bridge between here and out there. She’s not even sure she’d deserve it if there were. Irving is dead because of her; Dylan thinks she’s no different from her outie at all. This is all that’s left: Mark’s face in the lowlight as he stares at her in disbelief, tears brimming in his eyes. The tight feeling in her chest. The words caught in her throat, all the things that maybe she’d say if she were someone else.
“But I’m her, Mark,” she says. She’s fought it for so long, and in some ways, she still doesn’t believe it’s true. But in the ways that matter right now, it is. “I’m her.”

Summary
Mark never learned how to take care of the plants. It wasn’t really something he’d thought much of. He’d glanced at Gemma spritzing the leaves, and sometimes, he’d been in the room while she trimmed or repotted them when they were ready. To him, she possessed some sort of connection to them that he didn’t understand. She had some mystical knowledge about what they needed and when they needed it. She was a caretaker.
He is not.

Summary
Helly glances at the clock again. It’s 9:19 now. She must have been so transfixed by the numbers that she didn’t notice the passage of time. Did she somehow miss Mark’s arrival? When she straightens and stares over the divider between their desks, she sees that his is still untouched.
Her mouth goes dry and, in that moment, she’s sure, she’s so sure that they’ve been found out and Mark is bearing the punishment for it. Lumon allows no fraternization between colleagues, and she suspects they’d jump at the opportunity to reprimand someone. And she knows that someone can’t be her, at least not her physical body.
--
Or, post-Attila, Mark doesn't return to work, and Helly spirals. Then she decides to do something about it.
