When coming out to the Voyageurs leaves him wondering what his future in Montreal might look like, he lets himself be a little selfish, he lets himself wonder if there might be somewhere else he might be happy. If Montreal wants to get rid of a generational player, he's not about to stop them, especially if it means he can get a little closer to joy.

I love this. Shane moving to New York, building a family and a support network there and changing everything for everyone for the better. All the friendships! Ilya getting to play with Hayden, all the rookies who find great role models and everything connected through Shane and Ilya’s relationship and marriage. That was a fun and satisfying story.

Wyatt’s gaze flicked from Hollander to Rozanov – who looked absolutely delighted with this turn of events – and back again. “You two follow playoff traditions as well then?”
Hollander shrugged, still catastrophically casual, “I mean, when we played on different teams we sort of had to. Conflict of interests and all that. But I meant more generally. You know what it’s like, right?”
Wyatt wasn’t sure that he did, and was suddenly very conscious of the fact that he might not be in the least bit emotionally prepared for whatever was about to come out of Hollander’s mouth.
“Like, the other day,” Hollander continued, seemingly unaware of the proverbial bombshell he was about to drop. “Ilya tied me up and edged me for…was it two hours?”
“Three, moyo solnyshko,” Rozanov corrected, sounding like Christmas, his birthday, and the Easter Bunny had all come at once.
Shane Hollander joins the Centaurs, and the team discovers that their Captain might be a certified menace, but his husband is so, so much worse.
OR: five times Shane accidentally terrorizes the Centaurs locker room, and one time he chooses to hold back.

He glanced at Rozanov, who'd been smirking and teasing Wyatt only a second earlier. Now, his mouth was firmly shut. All the rest of the team stared at Rozanov.
Wyatt laughed. "Oh my God, Roz I don't even know what he said but you are so damn whipped!"
"One word from the husband and he shuts up!" Bood crowed.
Chouinard jumped in. "Yeah, what the hell did you say to shut him up that quickly, Hollzy?"
(4 times shane was less boring than people thought. including hickeys, never have i ever, being in the room next door to them at a hotel, and a russian rookie)

The story doesn’t feel finished. Harry hasn’t taken his revenge and it’s not Harry/Snape at this point in time either. There is potential, but the only pairing is Ron/Draco. Also, there was some 180 degree turn with Ron's characterization which later gets explained as Hermione spiking his trail mix nuts.
The main points to take away from this: Grindelwald is Harry’s great-grandfather, Dumbledore raped Harry’s grandmother when she was a teenager and stole her magic, and the goblins gave Harry, Ron and Draco a six year training montage that lasted a week in the outside world.
