Dr. Herrick is chatting up Grace in the corner. Or at least, he’s trying to. Grace is mostly avoiding eye contact, glancing across the room every few seconds towards particularly lively conversations, or looking down at his pack of sour skittles.
Usually, Stratt doesn’t spend much time down here in the bar with the rest of the crew—she’s busy, and she doesn’t particularly wish to soften her reputation. But she has mindless emails to answer tonight, and anyway, she’s been wanting to see how Grace interacts with the others. She’s been curious.

“I’ll wash your jacket,” Lars says, holding his hand out. The bottom half of Driver’s jacket is dark and stained with blood. (The blood goes all the way around, like it’s not only from Driver’s injury. Lars pretends not to notice.) It’s ripped, next to the zipper, from the knife that was in his stomach. Lars doesn’t think Driver should wear a bloody jacket.
Driver shakes his head, eyeing Lars warily.
Well. That’s okay. Lars doesn’t like when people take his blanket, either.

Lars finds the Driver bleeding in his car on the side of the road. A tentative relationship forms.

Summary
“I don’t know,” says Simon. “I don’t even know where we’re going, they won’t tell me.” He buries his face in his knees and arms again, and Grace hears something that sounds suspiciously like a sob. Maybe Simon’s eyeballs were sweating too.
“You have to promise you’ll come back,” Grace demands, his own lower lip trembling. "Pinky promise!" He jabs his pinky into Simon’s cheek and pokes him with it until Simon looks up.
Simon’s eyes are red-rimmed, but Grace’s glad that he’s managed to surprise just the tiniest smile from him. “I’m not pinky promising, that shit’s for babies,” he says, eyeing Grace’s extended pinky with mock disdain.
“Then how am I supposed to know you’ll keep your promise?” Grace shoots back.
“We gotta seal the deal with something else,” Simon says seriously.

"Mr. Grace," Holland hisses.
Grace honest-to-God flinches, mouthing "Mister?" with great confusion.
Their eyes meet, and Grace's mouth drops open. He yelps. "Mr. March? What are you doing here?" he asks, voice hushed. "How did you get here?" He sounds amazed. Why is he amazed? Does Grace think of him as a shitty detective? Why is he so amazed that Holland found him?
Holland is rather offended.
