Summary
It was Hollander’s absence that had created this void. It wasn’t that Ilya had even cared, before. A quick thrill, that both knew would end. But then, Hollander had hijacked Ilya’s life, refashioned it in his own image, shaped it to fit the empty space he left in his wake. It was terribly cruel, the immeasurable impact that human beings could have on one another. Even more cruel, to walk away from the mess you had created, as Hollander had. At least have the decency to make it mean something.
After a nervous collapse, Shane Hollander returns home to the Foothills of Alberta, only to be brought back into contact with the man he left behind, six years prior.

Even then, the best Hunith could offer was an old letter from Merlin, filled with that familiar, barely legible scrawl, stating that Merlin was thinking of making his way towards the continent, that he’d grown restless traversing the far corners of Britannica.
He could be anywhere, at this point.
Five years ago, everything fell apart when Arthur had to help Merlin flee Camelot, narrowly avoiding execution.
Now, Arthur's a king on the run, Camelot's in danger, and despite months of searching, Merlin's still nowhere to be found.

“You-” Ygraine said, stepping up to point a finger in Uther’s face. “You are a liar and a murderer. The fact you think someone as sweet and caring as Vivienne is destined to marry you is a tragedy in itself, but if you expect me to hand over my brother’s rightful claim to Camelot’s throne-”
“My claim to Camelot’s throne,” Uther threw back, face growing more red as Arthur looked between his parents in utter bewilderment. Merlin didn’t blame him. He had envisioned Uther and Ygraine’s love story to be more… well, less based in war and battles.
Ygraine’s eyes narrowed as she grabbed a goblet of wine and threw it in Uther’s face. A few of the guards shifted, but Uther only raised a hand to pause them, spitting out the wine with furious eyes.
“You,” Ygraine said coldly. “Are unworthy to sit upon a stool, let alone a throne.”
From a few feet away, Balinor scoffed as he sipped from his own goblet. “I kind of like having her as a hostage, Uther. She livens up the place.”

Honestly, Jayce had thought his relationship with his estranged ex-partner couldn't get any worse. He'd watched it crash, burn, and die himself. Hell, he'd pulled the trigger. But of course Viktor would just have to prove him wrong, returning on the eve of his greatest scientific achievement to date. And, goddamn, it does not go how he'd expected. In the bad direction.
As he moves up in the world in the aftermath, hailed as both Piltover’s heroic defender and unmatched genius in the field of hextech (when he only ever wanted to be ONE of those things), he’s hounded by his new/old archnemesis and, even worse, celebrity status. Scarier yet, things with Viktor are still . . . complicated. Just because he can’t seem to bring himself to kill him doesn’t mean there’s any chance they’d ever come back together. He stares longingly at Viktor, the soft curve of hair around his ear, the twitch of his brow as he works through his confusion of Jayce knowing his name. But of course Jayce does. Knows his name. Knows how long he can sit before he's too stiff to walk. Knows his entire list of dreams to stop suffering of others- all of it blindsided because Jayce’s obsession with the arcane came and ruined everything good in him.
“How do you-”
“I’m sorry.” Jayce isn’t ashamed that his voice breaks, his body shaking with all the hurt of a different timeline, “I never meant- I only wanted to save you.”
Post-Canon Fix it Timeline- Where Jayce can't let go how badly he messed up, Viktor needs a few reasons to break his cycle of withdrawing from others, and they both pretend they aren't the dumbest men in all of Piltover and Zaun combined.
