Summary
But what did you get for the woman who had everything? Or. Well. What did you get for a woman who only really ever left the house to kill things?
Knives? Nancy had a whole wall of knives. And she still couldn't be trusted to chop vegetables at the mess hall without cutting herself.
A fire ax? She had three. A flame thrower? Hopper was borrowing it for some kind of nest control mission last Robin knew, but yeah she had that too. Hedge clippers? A fricking... lawnmower?

Summary
Class was half way over and Nancy was just staring at the clock, trying to will the seconds to move faster. She didn’t notice Robin taking the empty seat beside her. “Your middle name is definitely Marie,” she said, causing Nancy to startle and whip around to look at her.
“It definitely is not. And is that your plan, guess Marie every time until you’re finally right?” Nancy asked.
“I mean, it’s a pretty solid guess, as far as middle names in this part of the Midwest are concerned, but if it’s not Marie, then what is it?”
“I’m not telling.”
“Why not?”
“If you’re so good at guessing, then guess.” Nancy was being difficult for no other reason than that she could be, but part of her also wanted to hold Robin’s attention for a little bit longer for a reason she couldn’t quite pinpoint.

Bookmarker's Notes
"Nancy fell in love with Robin gradually and all at once, it seemed, but she wouldn’t push her away, not like Barb. She’d hang onto these moments of closeness and affection selfishly and tell herself it was fine because Robin was still the one who sought them out. It was fine if her heart tried to beat a hole through her chest when Robin hugged her because it might just stop altogether if she didn’t. It was fine if this was all she ever got—holding Robin while she slept—because it was real, a decision she was making to love her, choosing whichever path she wanted. Brilliant, simple defiance. Driving on the left side of the road was only dangerous if you were supposed to be driving on the right. Wrongness was subjective. She didn’t feel like she was on the wrong side, not with Robin on her right."

Summary
"Nancy Wheeler," one of the non-Vickies says, interest clear in her tone, "I wasn't sure we'd see you tonight. So nice of you to come with your... friend."
"Oh, sure," Nancy says, all saccharine sweet, "neither of us were sure we wanted to come, what with the whole thing being a little bit, well... lame, but Robin pulled this incredible suit out of her closet and I knew I just had to show her off."

Summary
"Nancy had started making a comprehensive and not even close to exhaustive mental list of all the many, many unexpected things she was learning about Robin Buckley as they became real friends.
At first, she hadn’t even realised she was doing it. But then there was just so many little things that made her blink and let out a soft, incredulous laugh because for some reason, Robin kept going on about how Nancy was full of surprises when Robin was turning out to be the most interesting person Nancy had ever met.
And so the list kept growing."
or
as life goes back to normal, nancy finds herself really, really intrigued by robin. (yes, it's a bisexual crisis but she doesn't know that yet so it's explored in the name of journalistic intrigue. for now.)

Summary
Robin Buckley’s life has never been particularly exciting, but she does find that lately, it’s full of surprises.
She’s surprised at how easy it is to excel in all of her senior-level classes. She’s surprised at how much fun she’s having with her best friend at their grating yet tolerable job. Hell, she’s surprised that Steve Harrington’s her best friend in the first place.
And she’s never liked surprises, but these are the good kind of surprises.
The good kind, that is, until she finds herself in a place she never imagined she’d be: head-over-heels for her best friend’s ex-girlfriend, Nancy Wheeler.
But the biggest surprise of all may be how far Robin is willing to go to protect all three of them from the havoc that her two-faced affection would wreak if anyone was able to see it.
(Or: in an Upside-Down free AU, Robin Buckley and Eddie Munson run the gamut on the human emotional spectrum during their senior year at Hawkins High in a little over a hundred thousand words)
