And that was it. Eddie knew right then: he was in love with his best friend. He might not have had the exact words for it, but he knew that his entire being was connected to Buck and that it would never change.
So, of course, looking at Buck’s Hinge matches and helping him choose one to go on a date with does not help Eddie’s feelings. It actually makes them quite worse. Eddie never thought of himself as a particularly jealous person, but he also didn’t think that he was hopelessly in love with his best friend either. Things change.

Summary
Eddie didn’t know what was wrong with him. He had never felt this way in all of his 21 years, which was saying a lot. There had been many bullies and knobhead jocks over the years that had pushed his buttons, but none of them had ever gotten to him the way this was. Usually, he could take a breath, put on an animated expression, and let the insults roll off his back, but he didn’t know how to deal with this.
This feeling was all because of one Steve Harrington.

“Just saying, if you’re taking another hit, you should share it with me,” Mike says, and Will slowly tilts his head, drinking in every word. “It just makes sense. Like, mathematically.”
Will’s reddened eyes narrow, bewildered. “Mathematically?”
“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”
In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.
So, they get a little high. Mike is very normal about all of it.

Summary
The Upside Down isn't the only alternate universe the party has to worry about it seems. When something inexplainable happens during a game of D&D, Will is replaced by... Will? Will the Wise appears before everyone, confused on why his friends are wearing such strange garbs and what dungeon he has stumbled into. Meanwhile, Will finds himself surrounded by fantastical versions of his friends clad in armor and robes somewhere far, far from Hawkins. The party now has a new mission to figure out how to get their Wills switched back around, and Mike needs to figure out what this feeling in his chest is all about.

If Will had a nickel every time he was transported into an alternate reality that had some similarities to his normal reality, he'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice, right?

A certain scene from the movie popped up, causing Will’s mouth to drop open and for his eyes to widen as he soaked in what was on the TV.
Of all the scenes in the movie, Mike had returned The Outsiders paused during the few, brief seconds when Sodapop was getting out of the shower in the background of the shot. Sodapop haphazardly covered himself with a towel, and then wrapped the towel just, like, stupidly low around his hips, his chest still wet and bare from the shower.
