“He’s… very impressive,” Rhaenyra agreed, her voice barely a whisper.
The words felt inadequate.
She cleared her throat. “But I think your mother is very worried about you. Should we go find her?”
Helping a lost child is not on Rhaenyra’s Saturday shopping list, yet here she is with a bug-loving toddler and a sense of urgency. When the mother finally appears--Rhaenyra doesn’t expect gratitude to take the form of dinner. But she’s not complaining.

Summary
It’s a downright demeaning way to live, she inherently knows this. Alicent used to think one day she would let the guilt get the best of her and end this thing between them before it even really got started, but she’s come to realize over the last few months how weak she is.
It makes her feel dizzy to realize how afraid she is, and how despite that fear, she does it anyway. Gives in time and time again, like Rhaenyra is not a spoiled brat and instead some undeniable force of nature.
(Or, where time and time again Rhaenyra proves she is far from being scrupulous to get what she wants, and time and time again Alicent proves she can’t deny what she undeniably wants.)

The manifestation of all her terror, paranoia, and aching stood before her- clad in black fur and the Conqueror’s crown sitting atop of her silver hair. As if fit only for her head to wear.
