The string that turned greyer and dead the closer it got to Shane’s hand.
Shane unintentionally rejects his soulmate, unknowingly leaving Ryan to die a slow and painful death. Ryan could tell him, but Shane's never wanted a soul bond anyway, so what does it matter?

Upon returning from a harrowing mission, Kakashi finds Naruto injured in his crib at the orphanage he was sent to.
