Suddenly he wants to tease her—wants, more than that, to do best musical, worst musical. Wants to pick her brain about Hadestown and ask if she’s ever seen The Lion King live and whether she actually likes Rodgers and Hammerstein or if she just pretends to for the sake of propriety. He wants to know everything she knows, not simply because he thinks they have a secret, shared interest all of a sudden, but because he thinks maybe, maybe he can use it as an excuse. A way to talk to her without having to talk to her until they’re both ready.

Summary
There’s glitter in her hair. Her makeup is a little smudged from dancing all night, with him and Keeley and Nora and Roy and her boys, everyone wanting a turn. He thinks of her laughter at Roy’s stiff dance moves and her tears when they said their vows and the reflection of the fireworks in her eyes when they went off at midnight.
He’d thought getting married on New Year’s Eve was a little much at first, but he gets it now.
Still sees the light in her eyes.
