Bucky sat his book down.
"Not the same, obviously," Steve said quickly. "I don't mean-" He stopped, looking down at his hands. "It's easy to start to feel like you don't exist, without time keeping you contained."
He cleared his throat. "Steve," he said softly. "I should have said this earlier, but you know I'm glad you're back, right?"
Steve didn't answer right away, still staring at his hands. "Thanks, Buck."
OR
Steve didn't decide to stay in the past after returning the Infinity Stones, but something delayed his return all the same.

Mobius rounds the table immediately, rubbing Loki firmly on the back with one hand and the other loosening his tie. “Come on, Loki, breathe. It’s just a panic attack. You’ve had these before. You’re alright.”
Loki’s breath returns with an eager gasp, and then is succeeded by several, much quicker gasps. No, I’m not, he thinks. He’s dying, or Mobius is dying, or the Loom is dying, or something’s dying—he can’t be sure. Just knows, feels the dread in his stomach and the terror in his chest, rippling in waves across his skin. Newton’s law of inertia claims objects in motion stay in motion and Loki feels as if he’s barreling at light speed toward the sun, or toward nothing, which he thinks is a lot worse. He has to keep moving. That’s how it works. If he stops, he loses focus and everything dies.

OR: After loop number 428 fails, Loki slips to the pie room with Mobius. But his mind is racing, the Loom still needs saving, and Loki cannot keep himself together much longer.

“I am unfamiliar with that term, Peter,” Karen informed him kindly. His jaw dropped.
“Well now I feel old,” he declared melodramatically. “I'm fifteen, and you made me feel old.”
“Imagine how I feel whenever you open your mouth,” Tony grumbled, and Peter realized his comms were still open to the rest of the Avengers.
“Ha,” Clint crowed. “Imagine how Steve feels.”
The aforementioned man sighed. “Can you all focus, please?”
They did not.
Karen piped up again. “In all fairness, Peter, I am only a year old.”
“Wow, a year old and speaking full grammatical sentences already,'' Peter praised. “You’re a child prodigy, K.”

OR: Peter Parker has the unfortunate habit of fidgeting with things in his hands as he thinks. This, apparently, extends to dumpster diving gadgets, Black Widow’s guns, Stark Tech, and… alien robots?
