Vash goes through another life. He's done it enough to be pretty good at it, these days. They're getting easier, even if "easier" means a string of murders while trying to make friends anew. Not his usual bullet-ridden trouble, but this is meant to be a kinder, gentler life, after all.

my notes: Vash, Nai, and the planet in the latest loop of a time loop spanning their lives. favorite things are Nai's characterization (protective of Vash but rarely murdery, liking a human and feeling extremely weird about it), Wolfwood's reaction to the wing/plant reveal, Nai walking in on Wolfwood pinning Vash and getting knifey about it, and a flashback scene to Vash getting shot in the throat with Nai's reaction

my notes: Mustang suggests a new enrichment to the guy who has lost the main enrichment in his enclosure and then has the audacity to act surprised when the guy gets absolutely lost in the sauce. Ed, meanwhile, completely misses the part where he becomes an automail mechanic because the entire slope along the way is just "this would help winry" or "it would be more convenient if i could just do it myself". Al comes back from Xing for a visit to his brother having learned, like, 5 new skills and is like 'what the hell did i miss. what happened here'. lol

A good soldier always follows orders.

A good soldier never questions who they are asked to kill or why.

my notes: Roy gets drugged and told to kill Ed. The writer is very good at portraying the emotional horror everybody is feeling about this.

    Day Twenty-Seven: Voiceless

Clearly, the offline yellow frame trapped by blackened earth had been trying to get clear even before the final explosion, likely ferrying his charge to safety. Small organic fingers tugged and shoved at the comparatively massive rocks, delicate skin tearing and leaving behind streaks of red fluid. But despite his panic, despite the pain, the human refused to abandon his guardian.

“Bumblebee,” he choked out, voice thick with emotion.

It reminded Soundwave all too much of another scene, long before, on another planet entirely.

my notes: Cried. This certainly captures An Emotion. Something something, he's your enemy, but your friend loved him, and now you have to choose how to deal with that for the next 5 minutes. Very good

Or: when Teru says little brother, he means it.

my notes: Absolutely incredible. Best fic ever. 1000/10. Teru being a good teacher and friend to Ritsu is so sweet, and his horror at what happens next is tangible and riveting. Very good characterization for both of them, too.
