Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1965.
"There was no way out for any kid on this end of town. It didn’t make sense— they broke the law, they did whatever they wanted, no one cared where they went, but somehow they were still so fucking trapped."
A story about boys born on the wrong side of the tracks trying to make it through while trying to hold together.
Contents include: Johnny and Dally trying to figure out how to have a relationship that can never be accepted, Ponyboy being willing to do anything to get with Cherry and really Fucking Up, Darry attempting to raise his kid brothers (and basically the whole gang) but not knowing when to be gentle instead of strict. Mistakes are made and consequences happen, and everyone learns that growing up is not a choice, and not something you can go back on.
