One of my favorite tropes in this fandom is that SY is some alternate version or reincarnation of SJ. For all their differences, I think they have some very big, fundamental character traits in common with each other. Two sides of the same coin kind of deal - they're not as different as they seem.

To see LQG, someone who seems to be a fight first talk later kind of guy, forced to be patient in a battle of intelligence and attrition, see the dedication and diligence to not make a costly mistake 😘🥰🥹! What perfection👌! That’s not even mentioning the liushen dreamscape dates, so cute and soft!

Basically, LQG gets transmigrated into a dogblood drama (the "dog-biting-dog" style melodramatic soap operas, hence "dogblood"), but just wants to cultivate and live happily with SY. If only these damn characters would get a hint and stop trying to drag him back into the plot!
Meanwhile, after being forcefully repatriated, SY uses all his superpowers as an avid trashy web-novel reader to try to predict what will happen and protect LQG from all the shitty tropes while also dealing with the realization that there’s been cultivation in the modern world this whole time!Not to mention the familiar-but-different faces popping up here and there…

It surprises him sometimes, how different the Lucy down the hall is from the Lucy who wrote the journal. There are moments—expressions, a certain turn of phrase, an opinion on some event—that tie them together, but from a wider view: they are not the same.
In some ways it makes sense: the woman who handed him that journal so many years ago with her vulpine expression had promised him he could save his family. She had said he would help her save her family. She had said he could make it all go back to the way it was.
