Summary
Sometimes, he wishes he was something else, someone else. He’s a coward who wants to covet the heart of a lion, who wants to love a boy but can’t help it when the words rot on his tongue. He’s all longing and long limbs, not someone who is strong or capable of salvation.
The world, according to Kim Gyuvin, is hot, saturated, and beautiful. Ricky is in every little corner, stuck under his nails like clementine skin. He loves him, and he’s terrified.
And then Ricky’s gone, in a way. One failed suicide attempt leaves Gyuvin trying to rebuild their relationship after having messed it up almost entirely. Meanwhile, Ricky tries to ignore the elephant in the room: Gyuvin is fully committed to loving him whole this time around.

Summary
Gyuvin's shirt is still distractingly wet. The lake light catches on the bridge of his nose, the water on his eyelashes, the flush still high in his cheeks. He looks like every version of himself Ricky has seen so far got poured into one person: baseball boy, son in the kitchen, homecoming favorite, idiot in a bathroom, beautiful wet thing on a platform trying not to look scared by his own wanting.
Gyuvin has a fastball, a slider, a changeup, and no idea why he can’t seem to leave Ricky alone. Ricky has an art portfolio, a bad attitude, and no idea why he keeps saying yes to Gyuvin.

Summary
“Do you think I’m pretty?”
Ricky’s asked him before. He always wants to know what Gyuvin thinks, even though Gyuvin is more obvious than anyone else. It’s not like Ricky cares about his opinion more than the others he hears. Truthfully, he’s only comfortable being so vulnerable and pathetic around Gyuvin for reasons he doesn't quite understand.
Honestly, he wouldn’t even say he’s comfortable. He never feels comfortable. He just allows himself to make the mistake of being weak around Gyuvin. He allows himself to seek out cures for his insecurities, even though he knows they will fail every time.
“Of course, I do.”
Ricky opens up and regrets it. Gyuvin tries to show him he doesn't need to regret anything.
