Summary
After a long day of field research for her dissertation, Jennifer Carson, not-quite-PhD, went to sleep in her lumpy double bed and woke up hundreds of feet above the city of Oldtown. Faced with medieval pseudo-Catholicism, an impending war decades in the making, and the extinction of the dragons, she will have to learn how to do her job as a conservation biologist in a feudal world run by "might makes right." Emotionally adopting the girl best known as a grasping evil step-mother, discovering that conservationism's reliance on politics spans dimensions, and grappling with the last remnants of Valyria's black magic were not part of her plan, but any good researcher knows how quickly expectations crumble.

If anyone asked the Batfamily which Robin had the funniest ’joining the family’ story? Well, everyone would start with, “Well it seemed like Jason had the spot taken for good after having the audacity to try and jack the Batmobile’s tires and hit Bruce with his tire iron.” And then they’d say, “But then tiny Tim decided to try and steal the whole thing.”
Or: When Tim is 11 he figures it’s not hurting anyone if he. Ya know. Takes a picture in the Batmobile. But then the power goes to his head and all of a sudden he’s hacking the Batmobile and tearing through Gotham on a rescue mission.

Summary
Adora, anxious to get a fresh start after the death of her parents and twin brother in a car accident, moves to the small town of Bright Moon. She’s far from happy about it and just wants to forget about her ongoing complications from the accident, graduate, and get out again.
Catra is just as desperate to get out of Bright Moon herself.
