House clears his throat. The purple haired boy swivels to face him. A sour look briefly flashes over his face.
“Finally,” he mutters not-so-quietly under his breath before his expression shifts into a polite smile. House is almost impressed with the seamless switch-up. “Hello.”
House grunts something adjacent to a greeting before shifting his attention to the patient on the bed. Other than the massive cast on the boy’s leg, there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with him. That’s boring.
“My name’s Reo,” the other boy continues, not that House asked. “This is Nagi, my, uh…” He trails off. “My partner.”
Oh, so it was like that. No wonder this Nagi kid kept staring at Reo with that stupid expression on his face.

Rei’s fingers curled into his palm. “I… can’t sleep.”
Kazuki nodded, understanding immediately. “You want the couch? I’ll—”
“No,” Rei said, sharper than he meant. Then softer: “I want to stay. Here. If that’s okay.”
“Uh, sure”. Kazuki began to move, legs swinging off the bed. “I’ll go sleep on the couch—”
“No.” Rei stepped forward. His voice was hoarse. “I— I meant with you.”
Kazuki froze mid-motion. Silence stretched between them for what seemed like an eternity.
“…huh?”
Rei and Kazuki left the organization for good. And Rei should be able to sleep in his own bed. He should be able to sleep like everyone else, like a normal human being.
But he can't.
Kazuki graciously lends his own bed (and his body heat on cold winter nights).

Phoenix was beside himself while he gave a statement to the first officer to arrive. He hated standing around doing nothing while Rory was still missing. It was then that he noticed a man dressed in a cranberry suit approaching them, a scowl on his face that anyone could see from a mile away.
Phoenix had to admit he was attractive, would be even more so if he was smiling. His tailored suit accentuating his alluring frame, his interesting hairstyle adding to his appeal. When he drew closer, Phoenix mentally whimpered when he could take in his facial features up close. Feeling guilty about internally swooning over the man while one of his charges was missing, Phoenix banished the thought from his mind and focused on the matter at hand.
“I’m Detective Miles Edgeworth,” he said, pulling a notepad and pen out from his messenger bag, “When was the last time you saw the child?”
