“Technically, I guess,” Vi grouses, still rolling her hips down into Caitlyn’s thigh.
“Technically?” Caitlyn repeats, voice higher than she’d meant it to be and Vi, the devil, laughs. Caitlyn is genuinely affronted, but she thinks she has a right to be, given the circumstances. She pulls back to glare at Vi, the effect ruined by the reflexive smile that breaks across her face at the sight of Vi flushed and grinning at her.
“I mean, I don’t know how you Topsiders learn to do it,” Vi says. “But where I’m from when you’re kissing, y’know, for real, like you mean it, there tends to be a lot less room for talk.”
Well, fine. If she wants it to be like that.

Caitlyn swallowed, clearly fighting to regain her composure. “I mean,” she began, bringing one hand down to cup Vi’s face. “Fuck the wedding. The ceremony, that is. All the planning and stress and all the incessant questions. We could just do away with all of it. We…we could just elope.”
Vi stared at her.
“Think about it,” Caitlyn went on breathlessly. “We already had our engagement at The Last Drop. We’ve already been surrounded by all our family and friends. So what if we just threw off all our obligations and eloped? We could go to my family’s Ionian estate. Just escape everything for a few weeks.”
Vi finally found her voice. “Elope?” she whispered.
Caitlyn bit her lip, revealing the gap between her two front teeth. “What do you think?” she asked apprehensively.

“You’re perfect, Violet, you’re my good girl, and as long as you’re happy and safe, that’s all that matters.”
Vi tenses at those words, the praising ones, a zing of desire going from the pit of her stomach to the space between her thighs. Caitlyn leans away just as quickly as Vi tenses, eyes narrow with worry. “What’s wrong?”
Vi almost stops herself from speaking. Almost keeps her mouth shut in favor of leaning up for a kiss. But instead, because Caitlyn looks so warm and worried, and Vi can’t help but wonder how it would feel to be safe with her, she whispers, “I liked that.”
She can almost see the moment the lightbulb goes on behind Caitlyn’s eyes. “You liked that, hm?” she asks, voice hopeful and lilting, but also a bit darker, that predatory edge Vi has heard once or twice – and been tantalized by each time – coming out.
“Yes,” Vi says around her heavy tongue.

OR If there’s one thing Vi hates about herself, it’s how much she likes to be praised. But for Caitlyn, especially in the bedroom, this is the opposite of a problem.

Sharpsight does not hesitate to approach, her mind banging every which way with almost painful curiosity. Every step sends more prickles through her pelt, as a shape takes form behind the teeth the closer she gets.
Squinting, she makes out the outline of- a cat, fur sticking every which way, head turned away from the exit of its nest. In a sharp motion, it strikes a paw against the wall of its nest, and it rattles, but otherwise stays still.
Then, in the dark, an eye gleams back at her- Sharpsight’s breath catches in her throat, but she holds her ground as sharp, yellowed teeth bare in a quiet snarl.
“Who are you?”
An unlikely alliance of convenience is forged between an idealistic Clan cat and a vengeful and hurt ex-hoarding house cat. They will both learn of what awaits them in Twolegplace- what Sharpsight was never allowed to see over the bridge... and what Red has missed over the last four years.
