Summary
After the tragic incident in Lanshiang China, Chris Redfield was no longer the same man he used to be. Failing his comrades and the man he imagined sharing his life with had sent the veteran spiraling into a dark bottomless pit. Depressed, Chris shut down completely. He lived knowing he was responsible for every death on Alpha Team, and with his new plan to retire, he was letting them down in more ways than one. The difference with Piers was he let Chris down, and in the end, Chris couldn't help but blame Piers for what he was going through.
Five months since the outbreak have passed, and Chris receives life-altering news. For most, it would call for a celebration. Though thrilled he was to have his second in command back in his life, Piers' actions left the man deeply disappointed and angered. Piers was responsible for his Captain's sufferings after all. And if it weren't true, it sure would take a lot to make Chris believe otherwise.
