Summary
“Look, red!” Shane holds his clenched fist up triumphantly, and Yuna carefully steps over the baby gate blocking Shane’s doorway.
“Let me see.” she says softly, knowing full well that there’s nothing for her to see at all. The red string of fate that ties two souls together can only be seen by the people connected by it. Her own string leads her right to David, and she can only hope that whoever’s on the other end of Shane’s string is a worthy soulmate for her baby.
“Mine.” Shane, who’s never been possessive about any of his toys, is practically growling at her; stubbornly shaking his head. He wraps his free hand around his fist, pulling both close to his chest.
She tries not to find it adorable, and fails.

Summary
Shane trembles harder, overwhelmed by the praise, the possession lacing Ilya’s voice. Heat coils tight in his stomach, pressure winding. He clings to Ilya like he might float away. “Ilya,” he gasps. “I—”
Ilya cards fingers through Shane’s hair, pushing damp locks off his forehead. “That’s right. You’re perfect. So pretty for me.”
Shane’s face flames. The insecurity is still there, but it transforms into a desperate need for reassurance. Voice shaking, he stammers, “P-pretty… I’m—prettier?”
Ilya’s thrust stutters for a heartbeat, then he groans, burying his face in Shane’s neck. “The prettiest,” he growls, words vibrating against Shane’s skin. “All mine.”
It's bad enough that Shane has to do warm-ups in a giant bunny suit. It's worse that Ilya's stunning ex-boyfriend picks that exact moment to visit. It's a catastrophe when said ex starts offering unsolicited advice about what Ilya likes done with his cock.
Shane’s about two seconds from losing it.

Summary
“Did you just tell a customer their outfit was structurally unsound?”
“It was.”
If you ask Shane Hollander, he'll tell you the bar's highball glasses are committing a war crime against sparkling water, your outfit has at least three structural flaws, and no, he is NOT blushing, it's just warm in here, and no, he was NOT staring at the new bartender through the gap in the ficus leaves, he was RESTING HIS EYES, and also, for the record, he doesn't care that the bartender has hazel eyes the color of warm stone in late-afternoon light or that his hands can untangle Shane's knotted fingers like they were made for exactly that purpose. He's a particularly opinionated artist with a sunset to paint. He doesn't have time for this. (He makes so much time for this.)
A neurodivergent artist with the social grace of a startled deer + a bartender with the patience of a saint + a best friend who lives for drama = a love story told in fumbled words, shared sunsets, and the quiet understanding that sometimes the most profound conversations happen without speaking a word.
Or: Shane Hollander has zero filter, zero social skills, and is absolutely in love with the new bartender his mother hired for their family bar

“You’re telling me,” he swallowed, “that my body thinks I’m Peter’s dad?”
“And it has prepared itself for parenthood in response, yes.”
