Summary
It felt wrong to mourn a sadist like Commodus. He'd killed people along with his animals, even mere hours earlier. They weren't lovers anymore, Apollo had to remember.
Essentially, Apollo realizes he's killed Commodus and bemoans Commodus's death.

Can't I just heal it? he reasons, before recalling how gruesomely he'd failed to heal the first wound Eros had given him.
Apollo leaves the arrow in his chest.
After Apollo's year serving King Admetus, he sits with Eros at the peak of Mount Olympus and muses over arrows, Daphne, and love.

"I know it was them! But I won't die, Narcissus. I can't!"
Of course he couldn't. He was immortal. The god Apollo had blessed him!
Then again, the god Apollo had deserted him years ago.
(Some of this is Commodus's last lunch; the rest is Commodus dying and contemplating his suckiness without realizing he sucked. It's not so much a retelling of his death as a 2,500-word excuse to share what I think Commodus would've thought of change.)

Summary
"You'll have your happy ending," he'd told Dionysus. He hadn't even had reason, hadn't even gone so far as to exercise his prophetic powers and, gee, maybe check? He spoke as "someone with faith" and of course he did. It was difficult not to when every single thing always went well for him.
Dionysus is obviously jealous of Apollo at the end of Tower of Nero! He has much reason for this. Monologuing with a touch of lamenting follow.

Summary
It wasn't that Lester particularly resembled Apollo, because Jupiter knows he didn't. Still, there was something oddly reminiscent about the boy, something Commodus couldn't place.
Or Commodus considers the differences between Lester's and Apollo's appearances and sobs over it briefly, and Caligula is no help at all.

Summary
“It was a nice wedding,” Charles says.
The little bird sitting on the top of Arthur’s grave tilts its head and peers at him, then flutters off in a burst of chirps. Charles draws in a lungful of smoke, holds it there for a long moment until it burns, and exhales. He sets the unfinished half of the cigarette at the base of the cross, the smoke spiralling skywards like a prayer, and runs a thumb over the fading knife cuts in the wood.
