Summary
There is one rule of content creation that every creator is subconsciously aware of. Never read anything written about you.
This is a rule Dan isn’t very fond of. Partially because he is kept awake every night with anxiety about what his fanbase thinks of him, partially because it turns him on reading about himself. Both of which are too loaded to unpack during the ungodly hours of the night. Tuck that away with the rest of his self deprecating feelings.
The main issue, though, was Phil. To Dan, Phil was this one perfect, precious thing in his life that he couldn’t risk ruining. He wouldn’t let anyone ruin their friendship no matter what that meant. Hell, he’d give up the career he had built if it meant preserving his sunlight.
Or, at least, that was the plan until Phil decided that takeaway and a full bottle of rosé needed to be split between the two of them and suggested that they read something the fans had written about them
OR
Dan and Phil have some feelings left unsaid. One night, they decide to read fan fiction about themselves and recreate it. Problem is, they're both a little too into it.

Lawrence’s hand caught on something round. He paused and slowly pulled out the object. He looked down and studied it. It was a CD player he had secretly bought for Adam during a rest stop. His eyes stung as he pulled it out and continued to examine his bag for something else. Sharp edges pressed against his hand as he pulled out a CD case. Once more, Lawrence fished through his bag. This time, his hand emerged with a pen and a blank, white piece of paper.
The quiet click of a pen lulled him out of the cathedrals of his mind, drowning out any thoughts with the repetitive motion. His hand hovered over the paper. Lawrence knew his handwriting would be illegible due to the unignorable tremor of his hands and the tears burning in his eyes. Slowly, letters formed before Lawrence could stop his hand from writing what his mind couldn’t process.

The corners of the brunet’s mouth twisted up in a soft smile. Not a pitying smile like he was used to but a real, genuine one.
Mike’s teeth found his lip as he bent over to pocket the trash before straightening up and sticking out his hand.“You won’t be as concerned with my death when we beat you.” The mystery boy chirped.
