Contrary to popular belief, Superman has very human relationships, family, friends, past lovers, chances he never took, broken bonds he would do anything to recover, that one extremely anoying co-worker he doesn't per se hate but would preffer to avoid. Unfortunally to him Batman assigns said co-worker as his monitor duty partner.
Booster Gold and Superman talk about doom and Michael makes Clark reavalute his views on destiny, love and Booster himself. Sometimes even the Man of Tomorrow needs to be reminded of the power of hope.

We have no idea who this new intern is or how he knows how to make such an excellent coffee but if he is here we can only assume that Station Management wants him here. I fear for the new kid, I fear for all the things he didn’t know being trusted into a job he never asked for. More news as they develop.”
Maureen really would like to have a calm day at work. Preferentially one where weird things didn’t happen and her co-workers didn’t die daily. Honestly, she really should have picked the library internship. Yes, the librarians were feral dangerous monsters but at least they didn’t write Jaws fanfic! Worrying about an adorable cringe teenager and the complicated danger of time was not on her plans. At least Carlos is up to help.
