Summary
She hooks one leg over his, not really thinking much of it, and he goes strangely tense. She notices that, but doesn't think much of it, either. She's too busy resting her eyes, enjoying the silence, head leaned against his shoulder. If it was something important, he'd nudge her or something to that effect.
But then, well. She notices herself. A stiffness pressed against her knee, and that wouldn't even really be something she noticed either because he was more bone and muscle than fat and a lot of him was a bit stiff, but she blinks open her eyes and realizes where exactly her knee was and- oh.
She glances up at Blackagar. He does not meet her gaze, face flushed and warm. -

Everyone else would shake their heads and say to ignore him. Said he was crazy, hungry for power, driven by the rage of unreciprocated feelings, desperate to avenge the deaths of his parents and too angry to see how incorrectly he was placing that hatred. Maximus never did anything to argue against any of those theories. If anything, he seemed to play into it, laughing and agreeing and asking what else everyone thought of him.
Stallior knows he wasn’t always like this. He’s certain he would have noticed. No, something in him had changed.

This is a prequel about the early days of Black Bolt's reign, and how he and Medusa became inseparable. Meanwhile, Maximus is jealous of his brother in so many ways. (I want to give the royal couple some more backstory before I try my hand at what happens after the show ends.) Fluff and romance but with some serious issues thrown in because the royals are complicated.
