Summary
"Fuck! Al! That's so tight- hrk!" Vox wheezed, head hanging down as blood rushed to his head.
"You're resilient, Vincent, you'll be just fine. Now quit squirming…" Alastor chuckled darkly, enjoying the feeling of Vox thrashing against his tentacles. After a quick fight, they'd ended up on the ground in each other's grasp: Vox wrapped in shadowy tentacles and Alastor astride his hips, wrapped in Vox's cables.
A cable wrapped around Alastor's waist and tugged him down hard onto Vox's hips, his glowing face a smirk. "Thought you liked it when I squirmed?" He bucked his hips up, only to be slammed down into the ground by the tentacles around his limbs and throat. "ACK!"
"Stay. Down. Vox." Alastor growled, voice full of static and emanating from the glowing radio grill of his teeth. His claws dug into the cables wrapped around his own body and tugged, cables fraying and splitting. "Be a good little pup and take what you're given."

Alastor had been grappling with strange, unwelcome feelings toward Vox—feelings that twisted tighter every time the blue demon so much as brushed against him. Alastor tried to dismiss it as irritation, a byproduct of proximity and pride.
But denial had its limits.
The tension had been building too long, humming beneath the surface like a wire stretched too thin. At last, Alastor decided to stop running from it. He was going to do something about it.

Her ruts were hardly pleasant, either, but they could be tolerated. Not much was needed beyond a locked door and an experienced hand to keep her at bay for the cycle.
She was never this eager or irritable or ravenous, stalking the hotel for a mate she knew good and well wasn’t present. Alastor isn’t sure why her body chose Vox as her only suitable partner, nor did she want to analyze that any further. What she did do was make up her mind, put on her nicest chemise, and make her way to the Entertainment District.
“Oh, like when I raised my E levels and started getting super emotional for no reason,” Vox says.
“Yes, sweetheart. This is exactly like that,” Alastor replies flatly.

Hospital doors made for great entrances when kicked since they were designed to bounce open under force, but everyone behind this hospital door was too busy acting somber to notice. Rude. It was a hospital, not a morgue. They all did their time on the table; only bleeding hearts and drug salesmen bothered to look all serious about it every time.

“Oh, you know,” Alastor sing-songs. He pulls up a chair next to the sick bed, hops down on it, and primly crosses his legs. “After spending so much time here over the last week, I think I’ve gotten used to your hospitality. Maybe I miss being around you already!”
Vox knows Alastor is being sarcastic. He knows. And usually, he’d be able to shrug it off.
But he’s so damn beaten down already, the words are like a knife to the heart, making him bleed.
“I don’t want your fucking gloating,” he snarls. “You won. Is that what you wanted to hear? You were right about me, and I’ve failed, again, like you told me I would. Big fucking hurray to you. Go celebrate your victory with Princess Friendship.”

Just for this, he says. As though it’s trivial. As though it isn’t everything that Vox has dreamt of every night for the past several decades. As though the rejection doesn’t sting just as sharply every time he wakes up and reaches to the other side of a cold bed, hands searching for a lover that will never be there, and hears callous laughter echoing in the back of his skull.
Vox sucks in a shaky breath, closing his eyes. He tilts his face downward, unable to look at Alastor when he admits it. He almost can’t bring himself to, sure that Alastor is already certain of the answer.
”Yes,” he whispers.
”You can’t be serious,” Alastor says quietly.
