What if Chit Sang knew what Zuko did, knew what the Prince had stood up for, and thanked him? And what if that lead to more secrets coming to light, unable to stay covered when the sun choose to shine down upon it?
Aka, my take on how the Chit Sang would reveal what Zuko stood for to the Gaang + Hakoda, and how it would be seen. I did this all while listening to "Things We Lost In The Fire" by Bastille on repeat. (I had to, at some point, make an obligatory Gaang finds out about the scar with added spice!)

Summary
Zuko is one of the GAang now, and he's much nicer and less bloodthirsty than Sokka had originally thought, and he's definitely much hotter without that stupid ponytail, but Sokka does not like Zuko. Not in that way, at least. And this is something that he knows for a fact to be true.
It is in fact very much not true. Sokka realizes this because of a...food fight?

They had gotten in a few hours ago. Ba Sing Se was nice and all, but Toph and Sokka had been more than happy to be sent by Iroh (with an enormous package of new teas to try) to visit Zuko. Well, Sokka to visit. The little earthbender lived at the Fire Nation palace.
Usually the Fire Lord was there to receive visitors. Zuko was always there to welcome his friends to his home.
But for the first time in months, Zuko’s (kind of cute) lopsided grin was not there when Sokka strode off the boat, ready to throw himself at the Fire Lord.

As Zuko was leaning in for another kiss, Sokka backed away, putting a hand on the prince’s chest to stop him. Zuko pulled away instantly, his brow pinching and his eyes searching Sokka’s face.
“Maybe,” Sokka said softly. “Maybe not in front of the moon.”
Zuko huffed out a chuckle, then paused when Sokka didn't laugh with him. "The moon? Why not?"

Summary
Zuko has been stuck for months in meetings with ambassadors and diplomats, half of them wanting his head, everyone expecting him to suddenly have a solution for a 100 years of disasters, and he feels like he has not slept in weeks. So yes. He might be a teeny tiny bit miffed.
His head is pounding and his eyes feel heavy. He moves up a hand to rub at them, part tiredness, part frustration and oh. Oops.In the midst of all the shouting, Zuko’s eye falls from its socket and lands with a small, thunderous thunk on the table in front of him.
Tldr: Zuko is tired and has been working his butt off in the peace talks post-war, and he forgot that when you have growth spurts, your prosthetic does NOT grow with you. In turn, he manages to give every dignitary a heart attack, which his friends very much enable. Oops?

Hakoda decides quickly after meeting Zuko that a) he’s going to protect him at all costs and b) his kids seem a little too fond of the boy. Not that he’s complaining! Hakoda would love to have him as a son-in-law and possibly to toss Ozai into the sea.
If only he knew which of his kids Zuko was actually dating.
5 times Hakoda couldn’t figure out which of his children Zuko was dating and 1 time he really found out.

Does it matter to the fifteen-year-olds getting drafted for the war effort, the ones the generals of my father’s council call kindling? Does it matter to the—” Zuko cuts himself off, chest heaving, eyes burning. “Does it matter to the Air Nomads?”

So when Zuko followed Katara into the palace and the first thing their eyes directed them towards was what could only be described as a massacre, Zuko panicked. Someone, something—a monster, the only explanation—had gotten here before them. There were bodies, bodies from both sides of the war. Who had done this, What had done this left no survivors, no mercy.
Zuko understood why. It wasn’t a monster that had emptied the palace by bringing Death, it was Azula.
Or; Azula breaks, in the only way she knows how.

Irritation flashes across Zuko’s face. He wants to say something, but Katara doesn't give him the chance.
“You burned Toph right after you announced that you were on our side! You burned down Kyoshi Island! Not to mention what you did to yourself–!”
Zuko raises his hand.
“Wait,” he says, frowning. “You think that my scar was caused by… some kind of training accident and that I did it to myself?”
Or: Katara has doubts about Aang's new firebending teacher. After all, Zuko’s fire has already hurt too many — including himself.
