When Mad-Eye's protégé Nymphadora Tonks takes matters into her own hands by uncovering Crouch's impersonation, she sets a chain of events in motion that has all sides of a brewing wizarding world conflict scrambling to catch up. Unfortunately, she's been stuck as the official Auror escort to Hogwarts for her trouble, and is expected to report back to the Ministry on Dumbledore's movements. She'd rather be out hunting for Sirius Black and earning the respect of her colleagues. Instead, she's working a case she knows she's only been given because of her morphing, and some of the teachers at this school are behaving very strangely...
When erstwhile Defence professor Remus Lupin reluctantly agrees to return while Moody recovers, he thinks his biggest challenge will be protecting Harry from the Triwizard Tournament and Peter Pettigrew. That, and keeping his lycanthropy a secret - he was very lucky that Dumbledore coerced Severus into swearing an Unbreakable Vow not to reveal him. He's increasingly perturbed by a certain nosy Ministry spy, though, who seems determined to uncover his many evasions and somehow always seems to know more than she lets on...
