“Gladly!” Nico went to take off the lid of the box and started talking, pointing to different characters as he went on.
For a split second, the Nico opening the Mythomagic box changed to a different, smaller one. He had the same toothy grin, but with a few less teeth and the same wide, energetic eyes. His skull ring, a gift from his sister out on a mission, fit loosely, like he hadn’t grown into it yet, a prophecy of the person he’d have to become.
