Summary
So maybe all that put together wired touch as a weapon in Amity's brain, if she wanted to be dramatic about it. Which she didn't. No need to blow this out of proportion; it wasn't like those touches put her in actual danger, or anything. They were just... Intrusive. Irritating. Perhaps they just felt like that because she wasn't a touchy-feely person by nature, nurture be damned.
But then Luz--open, excitable, affectionate Luz--barreled into Amity's life.Or: a collection of moments examining Amity's relationship with physical affection.

As Amity looks up at her, she sticks another piece of paper on the board they’ve set up to brainstorm. “The best books have many layers, just like the best lasagna. We could be writing history, here.” The piece of paper has, very sagely, ‘lasagna’ written on it.

Summary
The door creaks gently as she walks in. It’s just as quiet as when she left for the kitchen maybe half an hour ago. She pads over to Luz’s bed and sits down on the edge of it, which creaks under her weight. Amity can feel the heat radiating from the covers, where Luz’s folded legs are touching her own. Her girlfriend's curls are sticking out at odd angles where her hand lays over her head. Her long dark lashes twitch, but her brow is relaxed. She seems much more at peace now, which makes this exceedingly difficult, but Amity places a hand on her shoulder nonetheless. She nudges her gently.
“Batata,” Luz stirs only very lightly. “Your mom made pancakes for you. Blueberry.” Luz gives an appreciative hum, voice still raspy from sleep.
“My mom made them?” There’s a tilt to her words that Amity complies to sweetly, “Maybe I helped too.”
OR: Luz has to go to school and it's hard. So Amity makes her breakfast and packs her lunch.

Summary
It would be a blatant lie to say that Amity hadn't thought about asking Luz out at all, but these ideas were less like carefully orchestrated plans and much more like embarrassing, self-indulgent daydreams.
Amity wouldn't normally go about sharing such things... but Luz did ask. And Amity's heart can only take so much of her pleading pout.

Summary
Sharing a house with all her friends was amazing. It was endless conversations, a great new surge of inside jokes, a multitude of shoulders to lean on. Each day they all grew closer together. It made it hard to imagine Luz had ever felt lonely.
But, -and this was the selfish part of Luz speaking- admittedly, it was not without its drawbacks. Really, just one drawback. Though it really wasn't a big deal!
But, it did, maybe, make it kind of hard to have some privacy.
Specifically, privacy with her girlfriend.
OR: Luz and Amity would love to have some alone time, you know, just to chat and watch Azura movies together. And maybe kiss too.

Their eyes meet, for the first time in the past fifteen minutes. Like water in a desert.
She reaches for the butter, where Luz’s hand rests, but timing is tragically not on her side. Before their fingers can touch tenderly over the sticky plastic lid, Luz swivels on her heels and walks away. Amity watches her covert girlfriend as she jumps back into conversation with the others, like nothing happened, like she hadn’t just held Amity’s heart hostage in her throat.
Amity turns back to the toaster, but not before she notices Camila looking her way.
OR: Luz isn't immediately ready to come out to Camila, and that's fine. It might be a Human dilemma that Amity can't quite understand, but this is Luz, so Amity will do anything to help her out, even if it includes not acting like her girlfriend around Camila.
Of course, Camila clocks her from a mile away.
