Summary
“So, good?” said Holland. “What’s the verdict?”
“I think I might like it this way even better than fucking you,” said Jack.
“Too fucking bad, we’re trading off,” said Holland. “You think we can both fit in the bathtub?”
“Absofuckinglutely not,” said Jack, which turned out to be right.

Summary
Jackson almost fucked it all up before it even really started. For the rest of his life, the memory was like the feeling of a car whizzing past him in the crosswalk, a bullet passing just overhead. Like his life had very nearly stopped, in an instant.
March was the one who made it weird. But somehow Healy was still the asshole.

Summary
Healy found being queer a lot more interesting than March did, like it was a hobby or something. She dragged Holland to a new gay bookstore down in Silver Lake on opening weekend and made her wait around for what felt like hours. Holland stood outside smoking with someone else’s bored girlfriend while Jack paged through books and talked earnestly to women in painter's pants.
Holland didn’t read much apart from magazines. She had a stack of Vogue and Playboy by her bed, and that was good enough for her. Sometimes when Jack was telling her some long story about something she read in one of her boring books, Holland got the feeling she was just as bad at being queer as she was at being normal.

Summary
"Here," said Healy. She held out a lighter and clicked it on.
“What are you, my boyfriend or something?” said Holland.
Healy hesitated for a moment, while Holland slouched harder against the wall behind her and tried to convey through her eyeballs, I’m just an innocent little heterosexual, it would be an awful shame if some sinister old lesbian seduced me later tonight.
Healy, thank God, caught Holland’s drift and leaned in closer. She cupped her hand around Holland’s to shield the lighter from the summer breeze until the tip of the cigarette caught.
“You in the market for a boyfriend, March?”

"So how humans pick partner?"
"Well, sexually speaking, I guess a lot of humans go off of looks,” said Grace. “Physical appearance.”
“Physical appearance!” Rocky was scandalized. “No good. Bad variable. Tell you nothing. Have to run experiment. Have to try.”

Summary
“Where…” Izzy struggles to find his voice and finally manages it. “Where did you find that? Did Bonnet give it to you?” He’s having to stop himself from careening forward and ripping the shirt off Edward’s back.
He tries not to notice the way Edward’s face brightens at the mention of Bonnet’s name.
“No, it’s mine—one of my two. The other one still looks the same, but when I woke up… Look how fine this is now, Iz!”
“It’s…” Izzy’s tongue feels thick but his brain, somehow, provides the word. “Purple.”
