“We got him. We got him. We fucking got him,” he said. She only nodded. She feared what would happen if she tried to speak.
But oh, he was there. Not on Earth yet but already so close, almost in arms reach. If she only tried hard enough, she could touch him, through the clouds and the atmosphere up on the space station that she had first sent him to his death from. Hail Mary was back at her mother’s breast, back where she had once been put together, and she returned with one of her three children, and then another one, found in the desolate depths of space.
