Buck could admit things had started getting undeniably less platonic lately, becoming much harder to file under bro behavior and not something else.
Things like Eddie giving Buck a pat on the ass for a job well done, at first over the thick material of his gear, then becoming more common, eventually right over the oh-so-thin fabric of his uniform pants as he’d murmur a quiet "good job" for something as ridiculous as restocking the four by fours in one of their bags.
And shit, did it have more power over him than it should—always leaving him stuttering and fumbling to get himself back under control, and more often than not blushing enough that everyone seemed to notice.
They are both pining idiots who want to get together, but they both are too afraid to use their words, which leads to Eddie using some not-quite-platonic taps to Buck’s ass and some whispered praise to get his point across, and as for Buck? Hesitating, he underlined a single item, then crossed out the rest of them one by one. When he finished, he looked back at Ghost, as if daring him to say something about it. When Ghost didn’t, Soap pushed the paper over, crossing his arms over his chest.
Underlined was “kneeling” under “yes”, the only thing left on the page. It didn’t matter what the other “yes” items had been, they were very clearly in the “no” column now.
Ghost forced himself not to feel frustrated, had to admit to himself that Soap might be the most challenging sub he had ever had assigned into one of his units.
