Trapped by his responsibilities and disconnected from his identity, he drinks more than he should and goes through the motions of leading his parish. Then Liza Butler, the town's new farmer, walks into his life. Liza may want nothing to do with Yoba or the Church, but she and Father Shane keep crossing paths, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. Irresistible. Summary
“Has anyone ever even met the girl? I mean, two months cooped up on that old farm, she’s gotta be at least- like -in some way mentally unhinged.”
The new farmer is an extremely weird sword-wielding recluse who causes Shane a lot of undue distress. And without meaning to, helps him remember what it feels like to live.

Summary
If there’s one thing Shane hates more than Zuzu City pretty boys, it’s Zuzu City pretty boys who act like they own the world. He thinks James is exactly the type, already hates the other man’s guts when the annoying city-dweller invades his personal space in his pressed button-up shirt, his lips pulled back so tightly he could blind a deer with those infuriating pearly whites.
“You should shut up if you don’t wanna get fucked up, pretty boy.”
“You think I’m pretty?” James’ laugh rings loudly in his ears. “I’ll take any compliment I can get.”

Summary
Between his soul-sucking job at JojaMart and the excruciating smallness of life in the countryside, there isn't much about Pelican Town that Shane likes. When Willow shows up to take over the old farm, he's sure she'll grow to resent this place, too, but it seems like she loves everything about it—and, much to Shane's disbelief, has even taken a more-than-friendly interest in him.
They both have their fair share of wounds, though, and as they start to open up to one another, it becomes clear that neither of them can fight their battles alone.
Alternating POV. Some canon divergence.
