It had started 6 days earlier, though Kaz could admit it had been building from the moment Pekka Rollins kneeled in front of him all those months ago, and Kaz felt every reason he had to keep going start to slip from his grasp like water down a drainpipe. Or perhaps from when the boat carrying Nina disappeared down the canal. Or when Inej boarded her ship and got the hell out, no looking back.
He dealt with it all. Kaz was used to letting go. So really, none of that mattered. If he didn’t think about it, it didn’t matter. He’ll pin it all on the last week.
