Summary
Sent out to hunt on his own after his brother left for Stanford, Dean is visited by a strange, bloodied man in a suit and trench coat. The man calls himself Castiel and he claims to be an angel. Yeah, right. But after waking up back in his motel room with no other memory of the night, he can't seem to get that stranger out of his head. Why does that name remain on the tip of his tongue? And why does he have the urge to speak to the man out loud?
Meanwhile, Castiel is at his post in Heaven when a prayer suddenly vibrates through him. Castiel becomes enraptured by the human calling upon him, but his fascination quickly becomes irritation when the prayer turns angry, the man accusing Castiel of things he hasn't done.
Will these two strangers be able to work together to find out why Dean was visited by Castiel's future self? Will they be able to overcome their clashing personalities? Or will the Host and their mysterious plans keep them from each other?
-
Or: How, after seeing no other option, Castiel travels back in time to play matchmaker with the past versions of himself and Dean.

Summary
“Do you feel like you’re waiting for that call again?”
He should have expected the question, but it still took his breath away. Because yes, every time his phone rang, some small surge of hope rushed through him. Didn’t matter how hard he squashed it, didn’t matter that Lucifer had played on that very hope, he still scrambled to answer no matter what he was doing. And it hurt when every single time the voice on the other end belonged to anyone else.
All he could manage was a terse nod. She seemed fine with waiting him out while he tried to catch his breath, adjusting the thin gold band of her wristwatch and jotting down a couple of notes. When he spoke again, she set her pen down and met his level stare with one of her own.
“I keep looking for him around corners. I jump when my phone rings.” Dean dug his blunt fingernails into his palm while cold rage trickled and pooled in his middle. “He should be here to deal with the stupid shit he said to me before he died.”
