There was no clock in view of his cell. Nothing to indicate when June 4th ticked over to June 5th, but he knew. He had been staring at his left hand since the sun had gone down, wondering if maybe the Dark Mark would render him unworthy of a soulmate.
The moon shined through his meager, barred window, and he felt it before he saw it. A tug at the base of his left pinky finger. Gentle, soft. He swallowed thickly and looked, the cord wrapping around his pale, thin, bony finger looked nearly black in the moonlight. It trailed off lazily, disappearing beyond the bonds of his cell in the general direction of his soulmate.
He wrapped his left hand to his chest, shuddering. He wondered what kind of miserable person would be stuck with someone like him. He feared rejection. Or maybe he'd be sent to Azkaban for life and never have the chance to meet them. Beneath it all, a tiny and terrifying flicker of hope, that maybe there was still good in him.

Draco is lucky... or he was. He was lucky enough to get partnered with Harry Potter, who aside from being a record-breaking Junior Aurors partner, also happens to be the idiot Draco has been pining after for... well, it doesn't do to mention it.
Because he's not lucky anymore– Harry Potter has filed for partner reassignment, and Draco has no idea why.
Well, okay, he has a little bit of an idea why, but he doesn't want to think about that. Even if it's all he's been thinking about for days.

With trembling hands, the guard stepped forward and began to unbuckle the muzzle. Harry stood perfectly still, his muscles tense, his eyes locked on the guard’s face. The moment the muzzle was off, Harry lunged, his teeth bared, his chains rattling as he strained against them.
The guard stumbled back with a yelp, his face pale. “See? He’s feral!”
“He’s perfect,” Draco sighed, his voice dreamy, he stepped closer to Harry, completely unfazed by the display of aggression. His gray eyes sparkled with something Harry couldn’t quite place; admiration, maybe, or fascination.
