Phainon, Lord of the Underworld, had been watching from the shadows between worlds for weeks. He was tired of the eternal gloom of his kingdom. The black rivers that whispered secrets, the crystal caverns that rang like broken bells, the asphodel fields stretching gray and endless under a starless vault.
He wanted life. Specifically, he wanted Aglaea, the most radiant princess of Castrum Kremnos, whose beauty was said to make flowers turn their heads and nightingales forget their songs.
So he planned the classic move: to emerge from the chasm in a chariot. One sweep, and back to the Underworld before anyone could scream more than twice.
What he hadn’t counted on was that royal children look annoyingly similar when they’re both wearing ceremonial laurel crowns and lounging among the same flowerbeds.

Mydei watched him with the lazy amusement of a man who knew exactly how devastatingly priceless he looked. He raised a hand and swiped his thumb along Phainon’s lipline, brushing over the soft, flushed shape with a touch far too gentle for the uproar he was causing inside of his holy knight. Phainon could only muster together a stare—wide-eyed, breath shallow, utterly ruined by the sight of royalty leaning over him like temptation sculpted entirely in gold.
“Go on then,” Mydei murmured, command threaded through velvet. His thumb slipped past Phainon’s lips with no warning whatsoever, claiming the warm space with unhurried ease. “Wider…” he instructed, voice low and teasing at the edges. “You’ll have to open wider more if you intend to take all of me.”
“As you wish, my lord.”
