She whirled around then, her eyes cloudy, but not as pitch black as they had been before. Her brows knitted, something like a horror dawning on her face, she scrambled to kneel in front of him, grabbing his shoulders with force he could never have dreamt up.
"Jayce," She said, almost begged. "Something is trying to take you. You need to wake up."
Beside him, the shadow of Viktor sighed in discontentment.

When Karlach next spoke up, it was with an abnormally small voice Astarion couldn't really associate with the barbarian next to him. "How..." she began, almost as a whisper. "How did you feel. You know, after Cazador died?"
He wouldn't admit how the question knocked some air out of his lungs. Thankfully, he recovered quickly, as was one of his previously mentioned talents. "Oh, it felt wonderful!" came his answer before he could even reflect on it. "Two hundred years of servitude felt like nothing in comparison."
She glanced at him, just barely. "Really?" Her voice was hoarse now. Almost... disappointed. "It was just... that easy?"
Of course it wasn't. Of course he was lying. It came as naturally as breathing to him by now.

Bruce turned around immediately. There was a sheet suspended in mid-air, floating as if there was a breeze pushing it, even though the windows were all closed.
He had to thank the constant half-light at the manor and the distance that did not make Gordon see well that it was not a floating sheet, but a man wrapped in a sheet, blissfully asleep and unaware of the chaos he was causing.
Clark had warned him about some of his sleep problems.
Bruce had to come up with a story on the fly for the commissioner, and quickly.
"My house is haunted," Bruce quietly told the commissioner, without batting an eyelid.

Bruce frowns and tries to focus his swimming vision. Something isn’t right. This isn’t the bright blue and red he’s been mentally preparing for. The material is all wrong and it feels scratchy brushing against his skin. Superman’s suit isn’t scratchy. It’s smooth and comforting to touch; whatever he’s touching isn’t. This isn’t Superman, this is that stranger and his weird suit. It’s- it is-
