“Yes, John. New York.”
John smiled. “I’d love to go.”
And that was that. Or, as least, it was for the time being. John went back to his writing, Sherlock to his mind palace. Life settled down at Baker Street once again, and a feeling of normalcy drew around them like a blanket. It was almost unsettling.
Peace was always unsettling to John. Maybe that was why he signed up to be a soldier. His shoulder ached, but that was normal now, too.
He honestly thought Sherlock was joking. Honestly, until he was rudely woken up at fuck o’ clock in the morning approximately a week later for a reason that was finally different from some godawful experiment."
Sherlock gets offered a New York City vacation by a wealthy client. John thinks he's hiding something more, though. And he's right.
