He’s seen it on some of the older knights, the scars. Once on a woman who had tried to pry her son out of the fire he was sentenced to die in. He never thought it would be on him. ‘'You said you could fix it.``
Merlin’s lips are turned downwards, his shoulders slumped. “Not completely, not right now. I’ll have to do a little everyday, for three weeks at least.”
“Magic, you mean?” He doesn’t know why he said it, because Merlin is on his side, not against him. Merlin is the one helping him, and here Arthur is, questioning him.
He stares at him. “Yes and no. I meant I would have to apply some balms and use magic, if you don't execute me by then, I mean.”
Arthur doesn’t say anything.
Or,
Arthur finds out he has magic, but at least he's not alone.

“Merlin’s lips quirk, an imperceptible change, but Arthur notices. He feels braver now, the entire atmosphere has changed. The mood has shifted to something cozier, and he’s less on edge. His hand reaches out to hold Merlin’s waist and they’re both smiling completely now. Merlin cups his face, his fingers cool against his skin.
This must mean something right? It has to, he’s sure of it. Them so close, holding each other like this? It must. But he can’t get his hopes up like this. He won’t.
He shuts his eyes, he doesn’t move his hand but he doesn’t dare go closer either. He hears Merlin take a sharp breath, but doesn’t say anything.”
Going bankrupt and moving to Albion with his entire family isn't the best thing that's happened to Arthur Pendragon, but it isn't exactly the worst either.

The thought occurred to Hal suddenly and with such force that he spat his coffee out as he pointed aggressively across the Justice League meeting table at Nightwing. “You! You know who Batman is!”
Nightwing, who had been idly tinkering with what looked like a new version of his escrima sticks, raised an eyebrow at Hal. “I should hope I know who Batman is. He is one of the founding members of the League. And my father. Are you feeling okay, Hal?”

Or, a lot of people asked for an identity reveal sequel to my Batfam meets the Justice League fic, so here it is. Plenty of sheneanigans and a touch of birdflash thrown in for more sheneanigans and my own amusment (and Barry's anguish).

Summary
Maybe Sirius was wrong. Maybe Remus doesn’t like him, at least not like that. Or maybe Remus liked him before he really knew him, before all the sharp edges of Sirius started to poke out from under the hazy glow of infatuation, and now Remus is too polite to just say so and is instead trying to slowly ease Sirius into rejection.
Or: Sirius spirals, makes questionable decisions, and cooks James breakfast. Somewhere along the way, he learns how to communicate.
