Summary
Tankhun tilted his head in curiosity, observing something on Kinn’s face. “Have you even told yourself how you feel about Porsche? Accepted your own feelings?”
“What do you expect me to say here?” Kinn asked, peeved. “This isn’t a movie or one of your stupid, contrived shows. What does that even mean, to accept my own feelings for him?” He scoffed at the words again. “How I feel is how I feel—it’s simple. But Porsche isn’t a possibility for me, Khun Nu. You have to know this. Whatever I feel for him, whatever stupid, misguided attachment I’ve formed to him, it’s meaningless. I can’t have him.”
[ But, as Kinn later learns, love rarely cares about can'ts and won'ts and shouldn'ts. Love simply is, and it will bring you to your knees—either in defeat or in devotion. ]

“I am happy to send this over to Blood Like Wine, if you’d like. Now that Walt’s officially been…” Harlan pauses and then says, delicately, “extricated from the procedures, the new publisher is someone I think you’d get along with, and I think he’d be very interested in seeing your work.”
Ransom laughs, and laughs. “Fuck no,” he says. “I’m showing you this as a courtesy, before I take your spot on the NYT bestseller list with a rival company. Thanks for the meeting, Grandpops.”
—
Ransom doesn't murder his grandfather. But he does publish bestselling mystery novel Knives Out.
Two years later, he and Marta meet again.
