She was obviously being sarcastic. Everyone knows the nerd will always rant and rave about how awesome Katsuki is, which is why the joke triggered a chorus of laughter from their surrounding classmates.
So Katsuki decided to mind his business, ignoring the nerd’s typical antics. What was definitely NOT typical, however, was what Deku said next.
Alternatively; Izuku gets hit with a mysterious quirk that forces him to spill his true feelings, even those which he couldn't even admit to himself.
