Summary
“I’m gonna say something, but you can’t get mad at me,” he says. Bobby is silent, but that’s not much different from how he’d usually react to such an opening from Buck, so he takes that as his go-head anyway. “I think this may be all my fault.”

Summary
“You know, I think it’s sweet that flamingos alloparent.” Buck’s voice breaks Eddie out of his spiral and he jolts for a moment before turning his head towards the other man.
“Allowhat?” He asks, because even an anxious Eddie Diaz still wants to hear anything Buck has to say.
Buck’s whole face lights up as he lifts a leg to tuck under him while he turns his whole body to face Eddie. “Alloparent! It’s a thing where certain species of animals will parent young that aren't theirs. Usually it’s because they are social groups who are very close and share parenting responsibilities with each other. But research shows that flamingos specifically will adopt abandoned eggs or chicks in same sex pairs just the two of them, building their own little family. Isn't that sweet?”
Eddie nods before thinking, caught up in the light dusting of blush across Buck’s cheeks and nose in his excitement and joy to learn and share. But when he thinks about it, it is sweet, so he says so.
“Yeah Buck, that’s real sweet."

Summary
Out of the corner of his eye, Buck caught Eddie stiffen, knuckles pale against his beer bottle.
"You okay?" Buck whispered in his direction.
Eddie blinked, as if he'd been somewhere else for a second.
"Hm?" His smile returned just as quickly. "Yeah."
Another firework detonated, louder than the last.
Eddie's shoulders jerked almost imperceptibly.
It was so brief Buck almost convinced himself he'd imagined it.

Summary
“Did you follow me?” Eddie asks.
“No,” Buck says, coming to a stop right beside Eddie. “I know you well enough to know you wouldn’t want to go home to your kid until you worked through some of this first.” Buck gestures to Eddie’s entire body as he says it.
“So how did you know to come here?” Eddie asks, folding his arms over his chest.
Buck shrugs and plops down next to him. “You go to the beach when you’re sad. It’s your happy place. Or, maybe your sad place? Your happy place you go to when you’re sad?”
“Buck,” Eddie says, wisely cutting him off before he can go down a spiral of defining a happy place.

Summary
Eddie's gaze landed on Buck.
"Oh no," Eddie breathed beside him, so quiet Buck almost didn't hear it.
Video-Buck was sitting on a couch, drink in hand, grinning up at Eddie with that stupid, fond expression Buck knew he got when he looked at Eddie but usually managed to hide better. Video-Eddie walked over, and the crowd went wild.
"This is—we should turn this off," Eddie said, but neither of them moved.
Video-Eddie started dancing, and at first it was silly, exaggerated, both of them laughing. Buck remembered this part, sort of—the dare, Eddie being ridiculous, everyone cheering. But then video-Eddie straddled Buck's lap, and everything changed.
Buck watched his own hands come up to grip Eddie's hips, watched the way Eddie's expression shifted from playful to something intense, something hungry. They were staring at each other, and even through the grainy video, Buck could see it—the want, the need, the thing they never talked about made visible."Kiss him!" someone shouted in the video. "Kiss the sexiest man in the room!"
And they did.Or video evidence of that bachelor party emerges leaving buddie in complete chaos

Summary
Buck didn't think he'd end up back at Eddie's after everything. All the things that drove him here haven't changed and neither have the things that made him leave again. Thirty four years old and able to drop everything in his life because he had no dependents, no responsibilities, no ties. Chris was gone and Eddie was following him and Buck was only at South Bedford because he was being left behind.
Buck has reckoned with his feelings by now, this past year after Bobby, after everything that went on in the desert, the lengths Eddie went to, bringing things into sharper focus. He's in love with Eddie, has been in love with Eddie for so long it just became part of the fabric of the universe, the baseline from which Buck operates. He's made his peace with it too, aware that Eddie doesn't feel the same.
He'd do anything for Eddie and Chris but he felt more like a guest than he ever had when they came back to LA, sleeping on their couch, waiting to be asked to leave. Better to go than be pushed, he figured, and yet the path always seems to lead back to here.
So, South Bedford it is, only there are four of them now, not three because Buck is responsible for more than himself these days.
