Summary
It’s been… a tough couple of weeks. Or at least Keith thinks it’s been weeks (they’re still trying to figure out how to measure time around here). What with meeting his mother in the middle of a mission, being hurled into a new one with her… and suddenly being thrown into her memories, glimpsing into her future. And having her do the same with Keith? It’s honestly been a little too hard for Keith’s heart and brain to process everything that’s going on. There have been too many feelings, so many of them conflicting, Keith can barely handle it.
So he does what he does best: lock his jaw and push it down.On the two years Keith spent with Krolia on their mission, the memories they saw, the flashes of the future they'd glimpsed, some even including Keith's alleged rival that make him... uneasy. And also what happens next.

“Enough about me, though, what’s it like to be Keith Kogane nowadays?” Lance tugs on a lock of Keith’s hair again. “Still writing?
Keith bites his lip. “Uh,” he says, remembering the the boredom, the sameness. The daze, the numbness, the emptiness. Working a boring insurance job, living in a shitty apartment, the typewriter gathering dust back in his room. “I really think I peaked in high school.”
Lance straight up laughs at that. “That’s impossible! You’re out of your mind,” Lance says. Their stop is coming up, the train is slowing down. “You know, cause we never hooked up in high school.”
Or the one where Keith and Lance haven't seen each other since high school, but they get a second chance.

“You know,” Keith started as they picked up their backpacks to vacate the classroom. “I could give you a ride, if you want.” Lance blinked, a bit confused by the offer. At Lance’s silence, Keith’s cheeks started heating up. He smiled nervously, scratching the back of his head before he continued. “To school, you know, since I got Shiro’s car when he left for college last fall. I’ve been driving to school every morning, and since we live down the street from each other, and you’re late pretty often and--”
“Yes,” Lance replied, shooting Keith a small smile. He saw the other boy relax a little and grin. “If it’s not too much to ask, yeah, that would be cool.”
“Cool.”
“Cool.”
“So I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
“Cool.”
“Cool.”
Or the one where Keith drives Lance from school every day and they fall in love somewhere in between.
